Re-Regulating The Nervous System
Many of the people who come to work with me are thoughtful, capable, and self-aware. They often understand why they feel the way they do, yet still find themselves caught in patterns of stress, anxiety, emotional reactivity, or exhaustion that don’t seem to shift through insight alone.
You may feel high-functioning on the outside, while inside your system feels tense, on edge, or depleted. You might notice recurring patterns in emotions, relationships, or situations that you can see clearly, but haven’t been able to change in a lasting way. Often, these experiences are less about something being “wrong” with you, and more about a nervous system that has learned to stay in survival mode over time.
Some people come to this work because they feel disconnected from their body or struggle to sense what they’re feeling at all. This is often not a lack of awareness, but an intelligent survival adaptation, a nervous system that reduced sensation in order to cope.
My work is grounded in the understanding that change happens not by pushing or fixing, but by supporting the nervous system to feel safe enough to settle, reorganise, feel again, and respond with more choice.
How I Work?
I offer a calm, relational, and carefully paced approach to therapy. Our work together is guided by what feels present and manageable for you, rather than by agendas, pressure, or expectations.
Sessions focus on supporting nervous system regulation through gentle attention to bodily sensations, rhythms, and internal resources. We work collaboratively, with an emphasis on consent, pacing, and building capacity over time.
While the pace is respectful and attuned, the intention of this work is clear: to support meaningful, lasting change in how your nervous system responds to stress, pressure, and challenge.
This approach can be particularly supportive if you’ve found that talking about your experiences hasn’t helped you feel more regulated, or if you tend to become overwhelmed, shut down, or disconnected when exploring difficult material.
You don’t need to relive or retell past experiences in detail for this work to be effective. Instead, we work with what’s happening in the present moment, allowing the nervous system to gradually release patterns of survival stress in a way that feels safe and contained.
Somatic Experiencing® and Nervous System Regulation
My work is grounded in Somatic Experiencing®, a trauma-informed, body-based approach developed to support nervous system regulation and recovery.
Somatic Experiencing® recognises that stress, anxiety, and the effects of trauma are not only psychological, but also physiological. When the nervous system has been shaped by chronic stress, responsibility, or threat, instinctive survival responses can remain active long after the original conditions have passed.
Much of this work focuses on the parts of the nervous system that operate beneath conscious thought. When stress or trauma overwhelms the system, instinctive responses can override the thinking mind, even when you understand what’s happening. By working directly with bodily sensation and regulation, we support the whole system - body and mind - to come back into balance.
Over time, this process supports the resolution of trauma responses, not by revisiting the past, but by helping the nervous system complete interrupted survival responses and return to greater regulation.
I offer this work online, and many people find that nervous-system-focused therapy translates well to remote sessions, particularly when attention is given to pacing, safety, and the environment you’re in.
Who I’m Particularly Suited to Working With
I am especially well suited to working with people who:
live with ongoing stress, anxiety, or burnout
feel capable on the outside but exhausted inside
notice emotional reactions that don’t feel aligned with their intentions or best interests
recognise recurring patterns they understand intellectually but haven’t been able to shift
feel disconnected from their body or emotions
are used to coping alone and holding responsibility
want a body-based approach that goes beyond talking
You don’t need to be in crisis to begin this work.
You don’t need to have a clear diagnosis. Curiosity and willingness to go at your own pace are enough.
My Background
Before training as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, I spent many years working in high-pressure professional environments. This experience informs my understanding of how long-term responsibility, performance demands, and chronic stress shape the nervous system, particularly for people who are used to functioning well while carrying a great deal internally.
Alongside my professional training, my understanding of this work has also been shaped by my own therapeutic process and extended learning. This has included immersive trauma-informed retreats and study, including work informed by Gabor Maté’s approach to understanding trauma, stress, and adaptation.
I bring this background into my therapeutic work with care and respect, alongside ongoing training, supervision, and professional development.
What It’s Like to Work Together
People often describe our work as steady, grounding, and collaborative. Sessions are not about fixing you or analysing you, but about creating the conditions for your nervous system to feel supported enough to change.
Over time, people may notice:
feeling calmer or more settled
greater capacity to meet stress without becoming overwhelmed
less emotional reactivity or shutdown
a stronger sense of connection to themselves
Change happens gradually, at a pace that respects your system.
Working With Me
I offer one-to-one online somatic therapy sessions. If you’re curious about whether this approach might be right for you, I invite you to book a brief, no-obligation consultation.
This gives us a chance to explore what’s bringing you here and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
